Angela Strange, general partner at Andreesen Horowitz (and fellow Canadian!), proclaimed that in the not-too-distant future, “every company will be a FinTech company.” The spirit of her statement is correct! Embedded finance is one of the most disruptive themes in FinTech as it is redefining how we collectively interact with financial services.
Was reading an article by McKinsey that mentioned Canada is among the lowest-ranking developed countries in adopting fintech solutions, with only 13% of banking consumers using Fintech, compared to 32% in the UK. I have been following SureBright, an embedded insurance firm. While it is in the seed-stage, they have scaled rapidly and might be an interesting FinTech startup to come out of Toronto :)
